So after I learned how to ride a bike on the Honda Rebel, I decided I needed an upgrade. What I wanted was a Sportster 1200 Custom in the blue & silver two-tone color. My second choice was the red & black two-tone color. Someone called me from Ray Price Harley-Davidson and they'd gotten a surprise last shipment which had my second choice in it. So I got it.
It didn't take me long to fall in love with it. I ended up turning it into a show bike. I traded out a LOT of stock pieces for chrome pieces, changed the location of a few of the things, like turn signals, changed out the tank and fenders (and had them painted - gee I guess it was a good thing I got the color choice I wanted to begin with < note sarcasm >), and added saddlebags, engine guard, more pegs, passing lamps, etc, etc, etc. I put a lot of work into the bike, and a lot of miles on it too. I showed the bike in several shows and won a few trophies too. (You can check out the pictures from the various shows in the
Events section of my webpage).
I still have this bike in the garage - but I don't have insurance or a tag on it - when my kids get older and I get back into riding I will fix it up and ride it again.
