Happy 4th of July! We went over to Marty's parents house around 2 and spent the day having fun outside with the girls. Marty's cousin Tina and her husband Paul were able to come too. We had grilled hot dogs for a late lunch. Sami and Lexi played in and around the pool for most of the day as you can see by the pictures. Then we had grilled boston butt (sliced thin and marinated - YUM), fresh potato salad, and green bean casserole for dinner. We ate way too much but MAN it was good! After it got dark Marty and Paul shot off a ton of fireworks. Lexi did not like them - she thought they were pretty but couldn't stand the noise and wanted to watch them through the window inside the safety of the house - on top of that she kept saying "stay back Daddy" everytime Marty went out to light one. Samantha enjoyed them from the front porch and was not afraid at all. Unfortunately we had to rush off because both girls were tired and Samantha kept complaining of a tummy ache. So that night we planned on camping out in the tent (Marty and I had already set it up in the backyard) - this would be Lexi's first time and Sami's second. Both girls were real excited about it. We didn't leave Moncure (Marty's parents house) until 10:30, which put us home at 11:30. The girls slept the whole way home. Lexi slept through the transfer from the car to the tent and was sawing logs in her sleeping bag comfortably. Marty took Sami inside and changed her to pajamas while I changed too. We put Sami in the tent with Lexi and I got in and we three girls got settled while Marty was changing and getting ready to come out. Lexi was still sawing logs and Sami and I were already about half asleep when Sami suddenly threw up... several times... all over the place. You know Lexi was sleeping hard to completely sleep through getting thrown up on (luckily it only got on her sleeping bag and not on her), getting taken into her crib, then getting lifted back up for me to put her pillow under her. Marty took Sami in and gave her a bath and cleaned her up. I cleaned out the tent and started the sleeping bags and things washing. We got Sami to bed about 12:10am. So we didn't get to camp out but Lexi can say she slept in a tent for a few minutes anyway... and I guess Sami can say she threw up in one. We will try again soon.
